Frequently Asked Questions

Hello, Nicola here. How can I help?

Any questions I haven’t covered? I am more than happy to answer these for you. Get in touch here.

How much do you charge?

I charge $70 incl.GST per hour for consulting, or you can select one of our packages which is a fixed price.

What is your style?

I do love white! A fresh and clean, base canvas for the rest of your interiors. I’m a big believer in using special pieces of furniture or artwork you own and integrate them into a design. It doesn’t have to be about going out and buying everything new. Your home needs to show who lives there, whether your a minimalist and hate clutter or eclectic and love combining different styles. I can help make it work.

Isn’t using an interior designer expensive?

Hiring an Interior Designer can be invaluable. Making the wrong decision in a big project can be a costly mistake and an Interior Designer can hold your hand through that stressful process, making sure you are making the right choices.

Often you can end up saving money and time. I offer my trade discounts on products for you to use as my valued customer. These savings alone can be more than my design consult fee, in turn actually saving you money!

Hiring a interior designer, how does it work?

Basically here is a break down of the different phases.

Phase 1 – Concept development. Consultation, meet and talk to ideas, discuss your project and work out together what is the best way I can help you.

Phase 2 – Final Design. Work through to sign off your finalised design, you are happy with.

Phase 3 – Construction. If building is involved, I can be on hand to check in on project and run through any decisions over the construction process.

Phase 4 – Furnishing, I can source the products for you. And lastly styling, I can style your home for you. Bringing together everything we have worked on together.

You may want to use me for all phases or just one or two of them. I’m happy to help where I can.

Do you provide an online service?

I am based in Mount Maunganui but I am happy to travel within the greater Tauranga region. Travel is complimentary up to 20km from my Mount Maunganui address, and for every km thereafter I charge 80 cents per km. Otherwise, I can provide a complete online service if you prefer or live in a different part of New Zealand.

What is a mood board?

Mood boards are used by designers in the early stages of a project. They are a creative, visual presentation of images and objects inspired by the designers interpretation of the clients brief. A mood board conveys the overall feel of a project, before proceeding further.

Is any project too small?

No. Depending on the project I can supply advice at an hourly rate or you can refer to one of my packages. Just get in touch and we can chat about what would work best for your project big or small.

How do I prepare for my initial consultation with you?

Have a think about what you want help with, write it down. Have some examples of things you love or styles you are interested in. If you have a floor plan of the area we are working on, even better but not essential.
